FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Got Questions? We've Got Answers

How long does the full ADI training take?

Most trainees complete all three parts within 12-16 weeks with dedicated study and practice. However, the timeline varies based on individual circumstances, learning pace, and availability. Part 1 typically takes 2-3 months, Part 2 another 3-4 months, and Part 3 requires 6-8 months of preparation including gaining PDI (trainee licence) experience.

What are the basic requirements to become an ADI?

You must be at least 21 years old, have held a full UK or EU driving licence for at least 3 years (with no more than 6 penalty points), pass a criminal record check (DBS), not be disqualified from driving at any time during the previous 4 years, and meet the DVSA's fitness and eyesight standards.

How much does ADI training cost?

DVSA fees are approximately £350 for all three tests. Training costs range from £2,000-£4,000 depending on the level of support needed, plus £200-£400 for study materials. DriveThruL offers flexible payment plans and package deals. Contact us for a personalised quote.

Can I work while training to become an ADI?

Absolutely! Most of our trainees continue working while studying. Our flexible training schedule fits around your existing commitments. Once you obtain your PDI licence (after passing Part 1 and 2), you can even start earning money by giving lessons under supervision while preparing for Part 3.

What support do you provide after qualification?

We offer franchise opportunities with the DriveThruL brand, business setup guidance and marketing support, a client referral system and booking management, ongoing CPD training, access to our network of experienced ADIs for mentorship, and help with Standards Check preparation.
