No clutch, no stalling, no stress. Just you and the road. Automatic cars let you focus entirely on driving. so you learn faster, feel calmer, and pass sooner.

Over half of new cars sold in the UK are now automatic. Here's why more learners are choosing automatic lessons.
The hardest part of learning to drive. gone. No stalling, no hill starts to worry about, no biting point.
Without the distraction of gear changes, you can focus entirely on the road, other traffic, and your positioning.
Automatic cars are simpler to operate. Most learners feel more relaxed and confident from the very first lesson.
London traffic means constant stopping and starting. Automatic makes this effortless. no clutch fatigue.
If the thought of coordinating clutch, gear, and steering feels overwhelming, automatic removes that barrier.
On average, learners in automatic cars need fewer lessons to reach test standard. That saves you money overall.
Same great prices as manual. with the bonus of needing fewer hours

Automatic is not for everyone, and that is okay. Here is how to know if it suits your situation.
More people than you might think. Here are some of the learners who have made the switch.
Sarah was overwhelmed trying to coordinate everything in manual. Automatic let her focus on the road. Passed in just 6 weeks.
James needed his licence for a new job. Automatic meant fewer lessons needed, so he was on the road faster and within budget.
Priya had limited time between school runs. Automatic meant more progress per lesson. Less mental load, faster results.
David knew his next car would be electric (all automatics). Why learn a skill he would never use? Smart thinking.
"Automatic is cheating"
The driving test is exactly the same. Same routes, same manoeuvres, same pass mark. You are not tested on your ability to use a clutch. you are tested on your ability to drive safely.
"You will be limited to what cars you can drive"
True, but consider this: over 50% of new cars sold in the UK are automatic. All electric cars are automatic. The trend is only going one way. Many automatic drivers never feel limited.
"It is more expensive"
Automatic lessons cost the same per hour. But you typically need 10-15 fewer hours to reach test standard. Do the maths. automatic often works out cheaper overall.
"Real drivers use manual"
This is just snobbery. The goal is to drive safely and pass your test. How you achieve that is entirely up to you. Choose what works for your life.
Never driven automatic before? Here is exactly what will happen.
They will explain the car controls. Automatic has just two pedals (brake and accelerator) and a simple gear selector (P, R, N, D).
Your instructor will show you how to start the car, select Drive, and use the footbrake. It takes about 5 minutes to understand.
This is where it gets good. Foot on brake, select D, release brake, gentle accelerator. The car moves. No stalling, no biting point. Just smooth movement.
You will be driving on real roads within minutes. Without clutch worries, you can focus on steering, observations, and road positioning from the start.
Most learners are amazed at how much progress they make in the first lesson. That feeling of "I can actually do this" comes much faster in automatic.
Many of our automatic students started in manual and switched. If that is you, here is the good news:
“I wish I had switched sooner. I wasted 6 months battling the clutch when I could have been learning to actually drive.” - Common feedback from switchers
Real people who chose automatic and passed
“I struggled with manual for months. Kept stalling at junctions and it was destroying my confidence. Switched to automatic and passed in 8 weeks. Wish I had done it from the start.”
Amina R.
Ilford, IG1
“Everyone told me to learn manual but I knew I would only ever drive an electric car. Why learn skills I would never use? Passed first time and loving my EV.”
Tom S.
Stratford, E15
“As a nervous learner, automatic was a game changer. I could actually think about the road instead of panicking about the clutch. My instructor was so patient too.”
Fatima K.
