Newham is one borough with very different driving in it. Stratford and the Olympic Park have new roads, cycle lanes and a busy town centre. Forest Gate, Manor Park, East Ham and Upton Park are long terraced streets either side of Romford Road and Barking Road.
Plaistow, Canning Town and Custom House lead down to the Royal Docks and Beckton, where the roads open out. Our instructors pick up across all of it, so your lessons start from your own door, your college or your work, and you learn on the roads you will drive after you pass.

Green Street and East Ham High Street are packed with shoppers, buses and vans, and the terraces around them are narrow with parked cars on both sides. Driving here teaches patience and gap judging. It is the kind of driving that makes the rest of London feel manageable.
Barking Road and Romford Road run across the borough and carry buses and heavy traffic all day. Right turns onto them from side streets are some of the most useful practice in Newham, because the same skill comes up on almost every test.

Around the Royal Docks, Beckton and Custom House, roads are wider and much of the housing is newer. That makes the south of the borough a good place to start, before moving north to the busier streets and the A13. The A13 also runs through the south of the borough.
Once town driving feels comfortable, it gives practice at joining fast traffic, keeping a safe gap and leaving again at the right exit. It usually comes towards the end of a course.
An intensive course packs your lessons into one or two weeks instead of spreading them over months. It suits people who can clear their diary, and it works best when you already have a theory pass and a practical test date, because the course is planned to finish just before the test.
