Goodmayes test routes are a mix of urban high-street driving, busy multi-lane roundabouts, and short stretches of dual carriageway. Most routes leave the centre via Goodmayes Road or the High Road, work through the residential streets of Seven Kings or Becontree for one or two manoeuvres, and feature at least one approach to either the Barley Lane Roundabout or the A12 Eastern Avenue. Exits the centre onto Goodmayes Road, joins the High Road A118 east, takes a left through Seven Kings and into the residential grid around Becontree Avenue for the manoeuvre, returning via Green Lane and the Barley Lane Roundabout.
Heads north from the centre to join the A12 Eastern Avenue slip road, dual carriageway driving for two junctions, exits and returns via Longbridge Road into the Goodmayes Lane manoeuvre zone, then back along Goodmayes Road.
Used for the 20-minute independent driving section. Follows signs from Seven Kings junction through Cameron Road, Aldborough Road North, eventually rejoining Eastern Avenue and returning via the High Road. Tests sign-reading, anticipation, and confident lane changes.
Quieter residential route used when the examiner wants a tight bay-park or parallel-park manoeuvre. Goes via Loxford Lane, Loxford Park, returns via Ilford High Road. Often used for nervous learners or first-test candidates.
Less common but does appear. Heads south to the A406 North Circular via Barking Road, drives a short stretch of the North Circular, exits and loops back through Becontree. Reserved for confident learners and high-traffic windows.
