Do I need to have passed my test first?+
Yes, motorway driving lessons are only available to full licence holders. Learner drivers are not permitted on motorways. However, you can practise on dual carriageways during your regular lessons to build similar skills.
How many motorway lessons will I need?+
Most drivers feel confident after 2 to 4 hours of motorway instruction. If you are particularly nervous, you might want a few extra sessions. Your instructor will assess your progress and recommend what you need.
Which motorways will we use?+
We typically use the M11, M25, A12, and A13. These give you experience with different motorway types including smart motorways. Your instructor will choose routes appropriate to your confidence level.
Is this part of Pass Plus?+
Motorway driving is one module of the Pass Plus scheme. However, you do not need to do the full Pass Plus course. We offer standalone motorway lessons if that is all you need.
Is there an age restriction for motorway lessons?+
No age restriction beyond holding a full driving licence. Whether you passed your test last week or 20 years ago, motorway lessons can help you feel more confident.
Are motorway lessons available in automatic cars?+
Yes. We offer motorway lessons in both manual and automatic cars. Just let us know your preference when booking.
