The ADI qualification route

Most trainees take 6 to 12 months. Your dashboard tracks exactly where you are at every step.

Pre Part 1 Preparation

Build your knowledge base and apply for your first test.

1-3 months

📝Step 2

Part 1: Theory Test

Pass the ADI theory test (100 multiple choice + hazard perception).

1-2 months study

🚗Step 3

Part 2: Advanced Driving

Demonstrate expert-level driving ability.

1-3 months preparation

Pink Badge (Trainee Licence)

Apply for your trainee licence and start teaching under supervision.

6 months (renewable once)

Part 3: Instructional Ability

Pass the final test to become a fully qualified ADI.

2-6 months preparation

Green Badge (Qualified ADI)

Congratulations! You are now a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor.

What your trainee dashboard includes

Part 1, 2 and 3 study hub

Theory bands and hazard perception practice for Part 1, driving-ability prep for Part 2, and the 17 ADI competencies for Part 3.

Training log with trainer sign-off

Your assigned trainer logs each session. Once they sign it off, your competency progress updates automatically.

What we do, and what you do

  • We give you the study tools, training log, and progress tracking toward each ADI part.
  • You book your Part 1, 2 and 3 tests directly with the DVSA on GOV.UK. We track the dates and outcomes, we do not book the tests for you.
  • When you pass Part 3 and qualify, we move you onto the full instructor platform and your training history comes with you.
