Test day car hire is for pupils who learn with a DriveThruL instructor. New to us? Start with an assessment lesson and your instructor will tell you where you stand.
Note: Our test packages include instructor & car hire only. You must book your driving test with the DVSA separately.
Who test day car hire is for
Your instructor sits beside you for the whole test in their own car, on their own insurance and their own licence. That means they need to have seen you drive first. There are two ways in.
You already learn with us
Speak to your instructor and they will arrange your test day around your lessons. Nothing else to sort out, and they already know whether you are ready.

Book an assessment lesson first. Your instructor will drive a test route with you and tell you honestly where you stand. If you are test ready, they will cover your test day. If you are not quite there, they will tell you what to work on.
Book an assessment lessonTo be straight with you: we cannot hand a car to a driver nobody has assessed, so there is no package that skips this step. If your test is in the next few days and you have never driven with us, there is usually not enough time to do it properly. Ask anyway and we will give you a straight answer rather than leave you waiting.

Test Centres We Cover
We cover East London, Essex, and the Bexley and Dartford side of the Thames. If your test centre is near one of these and not listed, ask us and we will tell you straight away whether we can reach it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book my own driving test?
Yes, you must book your practical driving test directly with the DVSA. Our package provides the instructor and car only.
What if I fail my test?
Don't worry - it happens! You can book another test package for your re-test. Our Premium package includes one free re-test package.
Can I hire a car for my test if I have not had lessons with you?
Not straight away, no. Your instructor sits beside you for the whole test in their own car, insured in their name, so they need to have seen you drive before they can agree to it. Book an assessment lesson and they will drive a test route with you. If you are test ready they will cover your test day, and if you are not they will tell you what to work on. No instructor will take a booking blind, and any school that says otherwise is not being straight with you.
My instructor has let me down or is unavailable on my test date. Can you cover it?
Often yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people come to us. The same rule applies though: we need an assessment lesson first so your instructor knows what they are agreeing to. Get in touch as soon as you know, because the more notice you give us the more likely we can fit that in before your test.
Can I use my regular instructor's car?
If you learn with one of our instructors, yes. Just speak to them directly and they will arrange your test day around your lessons. There is nothing to book on this page.
How early should I book?
As soon as you have your test date, and at least 2 weeks ahead if you can. If you are new to us, leave room for the assessment lesson as well. A test in the next few days with no assessment behind it is usually too tight for us to do properly.
